Keyboardist
Javier Cruz brought Cat Glover to the Chicago set of the September 1983 video
shoot for “Wild Night Tonight” from the 2nd Skafish LP “Conversation.”
When director Dan Winner’s cameras first rolled on Cat doing an
improvisational dance routine, everyone on the set was mesmerized,
enthusiastically applauding after the 1st take.
In the final edit, Cat was intercut with the choreographed dancers for
the final section of the clip.
In
early 1984, Glover performed live on stage with Skafish when he co-headlined
with porno star Seka at the Paradise Club in Chicago. The event was organized and promoted by Robert Fischer,
himself a well-known visual artist.
Cat
decided to relocate to California and eventually came into contact with Prince.
Glover went on to perform as a dancer/backing vocalist on Prince’s Sign
of the Times and Lovesexy tours.
After
leaving Prince’s employ following the Japanese leg of the Lovesexy tour,
Glover released a 3” CD single called Catwoman on a subsidiary of Warner Bros.
Records called Red Dot Records in 1989.
