1980 CONCERT REVIEWS
The concert at Milton Keynes, England, was one of biggest concerts of the year, if not of the decade. For Skafish, it was the first show of the European tour in support of the Debut LP. Given the importance of the concert itself, the violent reaction of the crowd to Skafish's performance was heavily covered in the British press. The reviews of the concert incident magnified the already existing perception of Skafish as a complete "freak"-- a perception emphasized in January 1980 when a picture of Skafish in a one-piece bathing suit with babushka appeared in New Musical Express alongside a review of his first single, "Disgracing." While Skafish's weirdness and physical appearance were always factors in concert reviews, many journalists in both Europe and America pointed out the brilliance of his live performance and the amazing discipline of his band.
